San Francisco City Hall Reporter

The San Francisco Chronicle is looking for a dogged, resourceful reporter to cover the high-visibility San Francisco City Hall beat during an exciting and crucial period, writing about Mayor Daniel Lurie, the Board of Supervisors and the city's biggest political issues. San Francisco has become a national story: a vibrant, multicultural community that inspires with innovation and activism but struggles to solve its biggest problems, including housing affordability, homelessness, drug addiction and a downtown still recovering from the pandemic. This is an opportunity to break news on the people and policies shaping San Francisco, hold the powerful to account, amplify new and important voices, and explain the city to readers both here and around the world. Reporters at The Chronicle seek to provide must-read, best-in-class coverage through scoops, investigative and accountability stories and utility pieces that demystify politics and government systems. We're seeking a self-starter who has strong writing skills, is comfortable providing and taking feedback, thrives on collaboration, is committed to inclusive journalism and wants to own the stories that matter most. What you will do: Report news for SFChronicle.com that may also publish in the Chronicle's print editions. Compete to provide readers the timeliest and most authoritative information.
