Thank you for your interest in employment with Louisiana Tech University. Position: Nine-month tenure track appointment, 60% teaching, 20% service, and 20% research (negotiable). Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture, Plant Science, or related field. PhD candidates that have completed their dissertation defense (ABD) with a documented plan of completion by the appointment date will be considered. The successful candidate must exhibit effective teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills, and must demonstrate the capacity to work productively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, peers, and administrators. Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time of appointment. Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be teaching a variety of undergraduate plant science courses, which may include (but may not be limited to) introductory plant science, crop production, pest management, landscape design, and landscape plants. Responsibilities will also include conducting applied research, academic advising, student recruitment, curriculum development, and may also involve advising student clubs and organizations. Agricultural Sciences faculty members support youth agricultural organization activities such as FFA and 4-H. The individual hired to fill this position will have the opportunity to engage with agricultural producers, landscape professionals, farm managers, and relevant professional organizations at local, state, and regional levels. Participation in departmental, college, or university committees is a shared responsibility of all Louisiana Tech University faculty members. General Information

The School of Agricultural Sciences & Forestry offers undergraduate degrees in Agricultural Business with concentrations in Business Administration and Plant Science, Agricultural Education, Animal Science with concentrations in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Applied Animal Science, Forestry with concentrations in Forest Management and Wildlife Habitat Management, and Geographic Information Science. The School has 17 faculty and 9 staff members that serve approximately 400 students and is highly regarded for providing students with strong academic and professional development, with graduates being well prepared for employment, graduate school, or professional programs following graduation. Experiential education and research opportunities are enhanced by access to a fully operational 26-room, 20,000 square foot greenhouse facility, the John D. Griffin horticultural garden, vegetable gardens, the 1,150-acre Tech Farm and its animal units (beef cattle, horses, sheep, and swine), and a meat processing laboratory.
