Avian Junior Laboratory Associate

Junior laboratory associate to study black-capped chickadees in the New York area. Prior mist-netting experience required. The associate will join a growing research group at NYU focused on understanding the neural mechanisms of memory in food-caching birds. The associate will be based at NYU's downtown Manhattan campus year-round, with intermittent fieldwork within a 2-hour radius of New York City. Primary responsibilities: Daily care, feeding, and maintenance of black-capped chickadees and zebra finches housed at NYU Assistance with behavioral and neurobiological experiments in the lab Support for general lab operations and administration Fieldwork in the fall and winter consisting of maintenance of field sites and mist-netting to band and collect wild chickadees Transportation and handling of birds from field sites to the lab In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,656 - $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Demonstrated experience mist-netting and handling wild birds. Valid driver's license and willingness to drive self and others for field work. Interest in neuroscience research.
