Clinical Skills Lab Preceptor | College Of Nursing

The Clinical Skills Lab Preceptor is a skilled practitioner who provides guidance and supervision to students during their practical training in a clinical setting. They act as a mentor, teacher, and role model, helping students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively and safely. The Lab Preceptor will provide laboratory instruction and guidance to undergraduate nursing students at WSU Tri-Cities. Additional duties and expectations include but are not limited to: Supervise and direct student skills development, assess student execution of skills and instruct as needed to develop competency. Ensure students apply assessment, adaptation, and problem-solving skills to skills performance in order to foster critical thinking. Utilize current research and relevant resources to assure reflection of current standards of practice. Oversee and verify student lab usage. Maintain lab environment, including proper functioning of complex medical equipment, as well as appropriate models and supplies. Collaborate and serve as a resource for faculty. Responsibilities also include assisting faculty with nursing simulation as well as ordering and maintaining simulation laboratory equipment. Work in collaboration with other lab preceptors across the College of the Nursing to assist in achieving equitable programmatic aims. May include recruiting student employees to assist in the lab. This would include: Assigning, training and scheduling work for student employees. Approving hours worked. Establishing job performance standards. Evaluating job performance. Will be responsible for lab supply inventory and ordering. Last day applications will be accepted: August 6, 2025, at 11:59 pm. This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $4,050.92 - $4,940.13 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience directly relating to the duties and responsibilities specified. Currently licensed, or ability to obtain licensure by time of hire, as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree of Science in Nursing One-year acute care experience Experience teaching Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
