Manager, Power Electronics Engineering
The Manager, Power Electronics Engineering plays a key role in leading and technically contributing to our engineering team as we develop the company's grid connected and DC microgrid power electronics solutions. The successful candidate must be a hands-on, experienced engineering leader who applies their education and professional background in power electronics theory and methods to deliver a range of grid-connected hardware and system solutions for AC and DC power converter platforms. The individual must be a highly motivated self-starter and team player with strong ethics, experienced in delivering industrial product quality and performance with proven project leadership and team leadership experience. Responsibilities
Lead the Power Electronics Engineering team in the design and development of advanced power conversion systems, ensuring alignment with product requirements and business goals. Drive system and subsystem trade-off analyses to inform strategic hardware/software build vs. buy decisions. Oversee the creation of System and Subsystem Specifications and ensure traceability to high-level product requirements. Guide the development of Engineering and Design Requirements that support scalable, reliable, and high-performance power electronics solutions. Provide technical leadership in power conversion topologies including buck/boost, multi-phase/interleaved, DAB, LLC, and H-bridge architectures. Direct the selection and integration of high-power switching technologies such as Silicon FETs, GaN FETs, and SiC FETs. Supervise mixed-signal PCBA design efforts, ensuring compliance with safety standards and effective EMC mitigation in high-noise environments. Champion thermal management strategies for high-power components and subsystems to ensure performance and reliability. Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical and embedded software engineering teams using industrial-grade development processes. Lead validation efforts through unit, subsystem, and system-level testing, supporting early design simulation and iterative improvement. Manage contract manufacturer relationships for prototype builds and testing, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Oversee supply chain activities including vendor selection, contract/SOW development, and cost/schedule management. Promote Design for Manufacture and Test (DFM/DFT), quality assurance, and reliability engineering throughout the product lifecycle. Facilitate New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure smooth transition from engineering to manufacturing. Support the development of environmentally hardened, industrial-grade products for demanding applications. Maintain high standards in documentation, communication, and organizational practices across engineering functions. Foster a culture of innovation, adaptability, and continuous improvement, mentoring team members and driving technical excellence. Demonstrate a proven track record in full product lifecycle managementfrom concept through end-of-life. Qualifications
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with a strong Power Electronics background 15+ years of experience in system architecture and design for high-power, high-voltage product development, specializing in grid-connected and DC microgrid power electronics; skilled in integrating digital, analog, DSP, and software-based technologies to deliver robust and efficient solutions. 5+ years successful team and project leadership experience Experience working cross-functionally across multiple locations. Thrives in a small business hands-on environment with a highly motivated Team atmosphere. The ERMCO-GridBridge team operates in an open, non-hierarchical, collaborative, and flexible environment to achieve the most effective use of all team members' contributions.
