Director of Development

is responsible for leading a constituent events team and implementing the

Walk to End Alzheimer’s ,

The Longest Day , and

RivALZ to End Alz

to meet or exceed goals through volunteer recruitment and engagement and through corporate development. Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the fastest-growing walk program in the country, ranking as the second-largest peer-to-peer fundraising event in the United States.

Measurable outcomes for this position include achieving designated financial and participant goals through teams, leads, and individual fundraising, corporate solicitation, and community partnerships to increase Walk and The Longest Day brand awareness and visibility in the community as well as RivALZ to End Alz. Other fundraising initiatives as assigned.

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus!

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing seven direct reports who will work with the Development Director to reach financial goals.

Recruitment, training, coaching, and management of volunteers, community leaders, and team members to meet revenue and team goals for the events.

Build relationships with volunteers, participants, sponsors, community leaders, and corporate partners.

Manage volunteer networks, prospect, cultivate, and steward teams, walkers, sponsors, and participants to meet development goals.

Develop and execute plans to maximize team and lead participation, including retention and recruitment strategies.

Implement volunteer recruitment strategies, outreach, networking, and marketing to build a strong volunteer base.

Maintain relationships with corporate sponsors and constituents, ensuring their involvement and recognition.

Coordinate outreach activities with volunteer committees, including community presentations and engagement opportunities.

Ensure compliance with event standards for Walk to End Alzheimer’s and The Longest Day.

Manage revenue and expense goals related to the events.

Develop structures, processes, and tools to support volunteer recruitment, training, and leadership development.

Cultivate a pipeline of volunteer leaders for succession planning.

Ensure compliance with Alzheimer’s Association policies, standards, and regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

8-10 years of experience in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers.

Experience in peer-to-peer fundraising preferred.

Management experience, preferably with peer-to-peer fundraising teams.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Goal-oriented, confident, positive self-starter with ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong management skills, including goal setting, project organization, budgeting, coaching, and accountability.

Ability to develop and maintain corporate relationships and partnerships.

Experience managing volunteers at various levels of expertise.

Ability to work with diverse communities and demonstrate inclusion.

Excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.

Willingness to travel up to 30% within the territory; must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transport materials up to 25 lbs.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, social media, and ability to learn software like Luminate/Convio.
