nBroward House, Inc. is a not-for-profit community-based organization serving Broward County with a focus on HIV care and Prevention, housing, and behavioral health. nThis position is responsible for insuring that all food preparation and presentation is in accordance with the highest standards of quality and sanitation while adhering to nutritional guidelines.
nIn addition to other duties, this position will:
n- n
- Maintains kitchen in a sanitary and orderly fashion in accordance with Health Department guidelines with special attention to food handling and quality of items produced. This includes a working knowledge and application of sanitary food handling. n
- Maintains the kitchen and pantry in accordance with Department of Health and Agency for Health Care Administration Standards. n
- Prepares meals and snacks as outlined on menus and adjusting or as necessary, and providing alternative meals as appropriate. n
- Meets special nutritional needs of clients and preference as directed by Head Cook, Nurses and Management n
- Follow cleaning and maintenance schedule of kitchen, pantry and dining room, reporting unsafe conditions to Head Cook Nurse Manager or Director. n
- Interacts in a positive, supportive way with residents. n
- Engages and effectively works with person in crisis. n
- Provide support and guidance to Dietary Aids. n
- Performs related duties as directed by Administration. n
- Other duties as assigned. n
Skills/ Requirements
n- n
- Ability to maintain and clean standard kitchen equipment n
- Ability to effectively engage and work in a stressful environment with high-risk, vulnerable client population and persons in crisis. n
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, collaborating agencies and the public n
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds. n
- Ability to demonstrate and model culturally competent behavior n
- Ability to maintain a strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees. n
- Basic Computer and Math Skills n
- Effective verbal and written communication skills n
- Solution focused approach to conflict and challenges n
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction n
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle. n
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
n- n
- Training in dietary sanitation and food preparation. One year directly related experience preferred. n

nMust pass all drug and background screening, including a level 2 federal background and motor vehicle screening
nHours: Full-time 40/hrs. including rotating holidays.
