Summary You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Responsibilities You will begin provide on-the-job technical guidance to a small work group of approximately 5 - 15 employees who for reason of small size, or scattered or remote physical location of their work site, cannot be effectively supervised by the Foreman. You will assign, pass on instructions to the work group, takes the lead in laying out their work, and may personally perform the more difficult tasks. You will review assigned job orders/JICs, plans and specifications, plans, lay out work and worker assignments. You will resolve any problems that may arise such as ambiguous aspects of the job order/JIC specifications and plans, unattainable completion dates, substitution of materials, additional manpower, etc. You will assist the supervisor in assigning work to subordinates taking into account established schedules and priority work, capabilities, and workload distribution. You will check work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. You will insure that adequate tools, materials and equipment are available, properly used, stored, and maintained. You will recommend to your superior a course of action on a variety of personnel matters and actions, but generally lacks authority to take final action on any official personnel matters.
