About The Role :
The Cheese Associate is responsible for responsible for providing guests with expert guidance, assisting with selections, making recommendations, and informing guests on presentation and serving styles as well as maintaining the cheese department to ensure a diverse and high-quality assortment of cheeses.
What You Will Do
- Curate and maintain an attractive and well-organized cheese display, ensuring a visually appealing presentation.
- Regularly rotate and restock cheeses to promote freshness and variety.
- Provide personalized customer service by assisting with cheese selections, offering tasting recommendations, and answering inquiries.
- Share knowledge about different types of cheeses, origins, flavor profiles, and pairings.
- Stay informed about the characteristics and nuances of various cheeses in the inventory.
- Continuously update knowledge of new cheese arrivals, seasonal offerings, and specialty products.
- Handle and cut cheeses with precision and care, ensuring proper hygiene and sanitation.
- Monitor and maintain optimal storage conditions, including temperature and humidity control.
- Actively engage customers in discussing their preferences and introducing them to new and exciting cheese options.
- Keep track of cheese inventory levels, communicate with management about stock levels, and assist in placing orders as needed.
- Implement first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices to manage inventory effectively.
- Ensure accurate pricing and labeling of cheese items.
- Maintain cleanliness in the cheese department, including regular cleaning of display cases, cutting equipment, and storage areas.
- Follow sanitation protocols to uphold food safety standards.
- Minimize waste by closely monitoring product expiration dates and implementing strategies to reduce spoilage.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement waste reduction initiatives.
- Perform all other tasks as duties as assigned and/or per business need.
About You :
- 1+ year of prior cheese experience required .
- Knowledge of different types of fruits and vegetables, including seasonal availability.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Requirements :
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand for prolong periods of time.
- Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the property. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently , or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Climbing steps regularly.
Compensation range: $20 – $22
