Harry & Fritz is a new, independent restaurant opening in downtown Pittsburgh this fall. Our concept celebrates the rich traditions of American dining with contemporary interpretations, a commitment to seasonality, and a passion for locally sourced ingredients. We’re seeking a visionary Executive Chef to lead our kitchen team and bring this concept to life.
About the Role
As Executive Chef, you’ll be the creative and operational leader of the kitchen—responsible for menu development, team management, sourcing, food quality, and kitchen efficiency. This is a rare opportunity to shape the identity of a new restaurant from the ground up.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in kitchen management, ideally at the Executive Chef or CDC level
- Proven ability to develop and execute innovative menus rooted in classic American culinary traditions
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a track record of managing, mentoring, and inspiring kitchen staff
- A deep understanding of seasonal sourcing and relationships with local purveyors
- Commitment to excellence, consistency, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen
- A passion for the past, present, and future of American cuisine
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of the opening menu
- Oversee all kitchen operations including prep, service, inventory, and sanitation
- Hire, train, and manage back-of-house staff
- Build relationships with local farms and vendors to support the restaurant’s sourcing philosophy
- Collaborate with ownership and FOH leadership to ensure a unified guest experience
- Maintain food cost, labor cost, and kitchen budget goals
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary $80,000 - $90,000
