Job Title: Electronics Production Technician
Job Summary: SYSCON International’s PlantStar and Sensors divisions are seeking a skilled Electronics Production Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will apply electronic theory and electrical testing procedures to assemble, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify production, developmental, and customer-returned electronic equipment. This role requires proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMMs), and voltage calibrators to ensure quality testing and repairs.
Key Responsibilities • Diagnose and repair defective electronic units down to the component level using circuit schematics and electronic test equipment. • Collaborate with Electronics Engineers and management to address layout and assembly challenges, clarify design details, and resolve repair issues. • Recommend improvements to circuitry, installation specifications, testing methods, or product performance. • Follow test procedures for calibration and quality control of electronic products. • Document test results, defects, repair history, and other relevant data. • Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of lab equipment. • Assist in firmware updates on electronic devices and verify proper functionality after updates. • Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards (e.g., IPC standards, OSHA regulations). • Assist in inventory management of electronic components, tools, and test equipment. • Continuously evaluate and suggest process improvements in repair, assembly, and testing procedures. • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills. • Support foundry and metallurgy measurement and testing, including calibration and maintenance of temperature sensors, pyrometers, and other equipment used in industrial metal processing. • Assist in troubleshooting sensor-based systems used for monitoring foundry processes, ensuring accuracy in temperature and material composition measurements. • Support the Production Department, Customer Success Department, and Electrical Engineers as needed.

• Associate degree or vocational certification in Electronics Technology. • 2+ years of experience as an Electronics Technician or in an engineering-related role (preferred). • Strong understanding of electronic component theories and ability to read circuit diagrams. • Proficiency in using lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, DMMs, voltage calibrators). • Skilled in soldering and de-soldering both SMD and through-hole components. • Basic knowledge of Linux, including command-line navigation and directory structure. • Experience with Six Sigma/QC methodologies (a plus). • Ability to build circuits from diagrams (a plus). • Capable of developing and following standard repair and testing procedures. • Knowledge of microcontrollers and embedded systems (a plus). • Familiarity with industrial automation systems such as PLCs and sensors (a plus). • Understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling for sensitive electronic components. • Experience with foundry/metallurgy measurement tools such as pyrometers, thermocouples, and molten metal temperature sensors (a plus). • Strong technical documentation skills for creating and interpreting troubleshooting guides and work instructions.
