Principal Responsibilities:Theater Creative Director & Production Associate The Stamford JCC Performing Arts Department is seeking a passionate, creative, and skilled individual to join our full-time team as Theater Director & Production Associate. In this dynamic position, the Theater Creative Director will serve as the Lead Theater Instructor, teaching a variety of classes for students of all ages. Instruction will span multiple theatrical disciplines including (but not limited to) Acting, Improvisation, Musical Theater, and Voice. In addition to teaching, this individual will play a key role in the production and technical execution of all Performing Arts at the J performances. Responsibilities will include overseeing technical elements such as sound & lighting of all JCC Performing Arts productions, assisting with stage management and backstage operations, and supporting rehearsal operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is both a passionate theater educator and a collaborative, hands-on contributor behind the scenes in bringing youth arts programs and performances to life. Responsibilities: Instruction & Directing:Serve as Lead Instructor for all theater classes (approximately 7 per week) and seasonal performing arts campsTeach a range of theatrical disciplines, including acting, improvisation, voice, and musical theater, to students from preschool through middle schoolServe as class assistant for a variety of other Performing & Fine Arts classes (approximately 5-10 per week)Serve as Director for all Theater productions (approximately 2 per year)Provide private and small-group voice instructionChoreograph basic musical theater movement and stage blockingProduction: Oversee technical elements such as sound and lighting all shows Assist with stage management and backstage operations Support the creation, organization, dissemination of rehearsal schedulesCollaborate with Performing Arts staff on productions Administration:Support the overall operations of the department as directed by the Director of Operations, Performing ArtsOther duties as assigned by Director of Operations Performing Arts, Senior Director of Programming, and JCC CEOMinimum Qualifications:Minimum 2-3 years of teaching and directorial experience (working with preschool and school-aged children strongly preferred)A bachelor's or master's degree in theater or music, or at least 3 years of professional experience.Available to teach weekday afternoons and early eveningsAvailable for rehearsals and performances on weekends, as performances and special events requireExperience with Lighting and/or Sound design and related softwareStage management experienceMust be a team player: someone who communicates openly and can collaborate wellAbility to liaise in a professional manner with parents and studentsAvailable to start on or about August 25, 2025Proficient pianist (or another musical instrument)Additional Skill Sets (appreciated but not required): Set design experience, Dance and/or choreography experience, or Interest in other Performing & Fine Arts DisciplinesSalary:$50,000 per yearAgency Information: The Stamford Jewish Community Center is a cultural, educational and recreational center, offering exceptional programs, classes and special events designed to enrich the mind, body and spirit.
