Director of Admissions and Records Office and Registrar

This position serves as Director of the Admissions and Records Office and Registrar. The Director provides leadership and supervision to the Admissions and Records personnel. In overseeing the general admission and registration process at the main campus, centers and satellites in our 87,000 square miles outreach service area, online students and international students, the Director consistently interprets and updates operational and procedural Admissions and Records policies and procedures. The Director helps coordinate the baccalaureate admissions process and provides support to all baccalaureate committees. The Director provides student advisement in some situations and provides support and training for staff and faculty advising students. This position reports to the Vice President for Student Services. This position is based in Elko, Nevada at the main campus of Great Basin College. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.

Must have five years of experience in progressively responsible leadership position in a student services (or similar) environment which utilizes a computerized student information system for student academic record-keeping processes.

Familiarity with records management and student information computer software.

Strong communications, organizational, supervisory, technical, and problem-solving skills required.

Thorough knowledge of academic curriculum, program requirements, academia in general, and advising.

Effective communication abilities, both written and oral, and in small or large groups, are critical, as are interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities: This position's primary responsibility is to provide leadership and supervision to the operations of the Admissions and Records office including, but not limited to, academic record management, degree audit, information system management, registration, drop/add processes, transcript management, and graduation processing. Additional responsibilities include the following: Serves as the CRM implementation team lead.

Provides leadership and guidance to the College community to ensure compliance with regulations pertaining to student academic records (FERPA).

Principal Designated School Official (PDSA), handling all aspects of international (F-1) student admission, tracking, and advising. Must be knowledgeable about federal international policies as designated by the Department of Homeland Security.

Analyzes supporting documentation and facilitates decisions to determine student residency.

Works on transfer articulation issues, including articulating transcripts, developing articulation agreements and serving as a member of Nevada System of Higher Education Articulation Board and Common Course Numbering Committee.

Oversees the registration process for students' requests with non-traditional credit as well as military training.

Works in partnership with faculty, deans, and Academic Affairs, to enact new programs and courses as they are approved. Advises Great Basin College's Curriculum and Articulation committee with requests for program and course changes.

Provides updates to the GBC catalog and website with policies and curriculum changes.

Provides support, information and training to faculty and staff on issues related to student advising, academic requirements, degree audits, and institutional policy.

Serves on Refund Appeals, Financial Aid Appeals, and Excess Credit Appeals committees.

Provides support to all baccalaureate committees, Academic Standards, and General Educations committees.

Oversees graduation committee that coordinates commencement activities.

Participates in various college and NSHE-wide committees.

Occasional travel within the state, with or without accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Travel This position may require travel to other campus locations and throughout the service area, which could include occasional overnight stays with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act. D This is a 12 month "A" contract, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs. The budgeted salary range for this position is $86,445 - $108,000. Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate.
