Medical Records/Central Supply Position
University Place, a part of Franciscan Ministries, is hiring in Medical Records/Central Supply. University Place is a vibrant senior living community in West Lafayette, IN. University Place is a continuing care retirement community (CCRC), offering a variety of senior lifestyle options including independent living, assisted living, memory support assisted living, and skilled nursing/long-term care. Additionally, the onsite rehabilitation clinic offers inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and state-of-the-art programs designed to enhance the quality of life for residents and patients in the local community. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining medical records in accordance with federal and state guidelines, and in accordance with our established policies and procedures. Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities Assist in organizing, planning, and directing the medical records section in accordance with established policies and procedures. Audit and modify resident charts as required. Ensure incomplete records/charts are reported to nursing service for correction. Assist in developing procedures to ensure records are properly completed, coded, signed, indexed, etc. Report information from records as authorized/required for insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, etc. Index medical records as needed in the electronic records system (Point Click Care). Maintain various registries as directed including register for admission and discharge of residents. Type reports for physicians as necessary. Answer telephone inquiries concerning medical records functions and prepare written correspondence as necessary. Update census reports once a week. Ensure that supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel, as well as other departments within the community to assure that medical records can be properly maintained. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs including annual OSHA and CDC in-services training programs concerning hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information. Ensure that residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates. Prompts Organization and Function for the Health Care Center, including clerical functions as well as assisting Nurses, QMAs, and CNAs as needed. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, maintains the medical records system according to the policies and procedures following State and Federal Rules and Regulations. Maintains nursing supplies and assists with Lab Orders. *Must have valid Indiana C.N.A.
