Job Description : This Machinist supports Aero shop and Machine shop in running large CNC/Manual lathes, CNC/Manual VTL's, and CNC/Manual Mills, holding tight tolerances meeting OEM requirements and specifications. Read and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements for the Gas turbine, Steam turbine, and Aero components. Support safety culture and promote a "safe to start" mindset Align gas components and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines Read and interpret OEM drawings, REIs, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), algebra, and geometry Calculate and set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or input/edit computerized machine control data Start and monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, making adjustments as needed Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, and grinders
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent 10+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Advanced/expert skill level in: Turning OD's and ID's Grinding and burnishing CNC mill, CNC lathe, and NC (calculating feed rates) Manual mill, Manual lathe, and Manual VTL Support Aero and Machine shop based on customer needs, including cases, gas components, aero components, and value rack repairs Ability to operate both manual and CNC machines Experience in gas turbine repair (HSPT, GE10's, Fr3, Fr5, Fr6, and F7) - rotors and component machining a strong plus
