Essential Job Responsibilities:

A Maintenance Mechanic "A" is expected to understand and be able to show proficiency in the following areas. Pump repair: Gear pump, lobe pump, piston pump, diaphragm pump, centrifugal pump, turbine pump repair, oil seal, packing, double mechanical seal, single mechanical seal. Drive Repair: Gear box troubleshooting, replacement, rebuilding and repair. Conveying Equipment Repair: Component Repair/Replacement, sheaves sizing, repair/replacement, sprocket and chain sizing, repair/replacement, wood and roller type bearings, seals and packing, cups and flighting. Electrical: Qualified person per Kalsec Electrical Safety Program. Replacement of flush or snap switches, fuses, lamp sockets, receptacles, and minor maintenance and repair work, such as replacing worn cords and tightening connections on a wiring device per the Kalsec Electrical Safety Program. Voltage not to exceed 120 VAC single phase. Hydraulics: Theory: Equipment and troubleshooting, components and safety precautions, cylinders, pumps, valves, hydraulic tubing and fittings, hydraulic hose and fittings. Steam Equipment: Theory of steam uses, components and safety precautions, steam piping materials and design, steam pressure regulation, steam traps and condensate handling. Welding: Basic welding skills stick, Tig, Mig, Plasma cutting, Torch set cutting and heating. Ability to fabricate from prints. Piping and valves: Threaded stainless steel process pipe, welded stainless steel process pipe, welded steam pipe, sanitary piping methods. Troubleshooting, repair, rebuilding and replacing both manual and actuated valves of all styles, including globe, gate, butterfly, plug, diaphragm, flow control, pressure reducing, pressure safety and others. Shop and hand tools: Drill press, cut-off saw, hydraulic arbor press, grinders, sander, parts washer, overhead hoists, torches, welders, hand grinders, drill motor, hand sander, hand saw, hand bandsaw, pullers, portable hoists, rigging equipment, stomp shear, table saw. Rigging and lifting: Ability to safely rig, lift, move, set, secure, load and unload equipment weighing up to 5 tons. Identify capacities of hoists, chain falls, come-alongs, chains, chokers, slings, cables, clevis' and other rigging equipment and inspect condition for safety. Ability to troubleshoot, repair adjust and maintain high speed and close tolerance equipment such as centrifuges, separators, mills, airlocks and blowers. To perform other duties as assigned. To be familiar with all plant policies and comply with Company rules and regulations. To perform operations in accordance with established safety practices. Capable and willing to successfully complete required classes and on the job training to enhance maintenance and troubleshooting skills to keep up with technology. Examples of required classes are: Blueprint Reading & Machine Repair.

Education/Experience:

Required: Journeyman level or equivalent in a skilled trade such as maintenance mechanic, millwright, machine repair, pipefitter/plumber, machinist

Three years relevant journeyman level experience in a processing industry
