Job Summary Under general supervision, the Aquatic Maintenance Trainee assists with the maintenance and repair of aquatic facilities such as swimming pools, waterparks, aquatic centers, spray grounds, and public interactive water features to ensure safe operation in accordance with state and local health standards in the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department. Essential Functions 1 Assists aquatic technicians and other skilled trades staff in the repair and maintenance of pumps, motors, chemical controllers, pool surfaces, waterslides, play structures and other pool equipment. 2 Cleans and maintains aquatic facilities by performing functions such as vacuuming, skimming leaves, cleaning skimmer baskets, hosing decks, waxing slides, and backwashing filters. 3 Performs water chemistry tests associated with maintaining proper water clarity and chemical balance. 4 Completes inspection checklists, inventories and other required documents. 5 Makes minor repairs to facilities and equipment as needed 6 Contributes to the team by accomplishing related tasks to get results and meet department goals. 7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge Skills and Abilities 1 Knowledge of general mechanical principles necessary to perform a variety of routine trades-related duties. 2 Ability to learn to use hand/power tools and other equipment specific to pool maintenance trade. 3 Ability to perform manual labor. 4 Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. 5 Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, city officials, vendors, other government agencies, other employees and the general public. Minimum Qualifications Experience Six (6) months experience in general aquatic facility maintenance or other trade field. Licenses and Certifications Must have a Texas Class C driver's license. Education High School Diploma, GED Salary Range $21.67 - $23.60 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
