Data Governance Consultant

Remote or Hybrid (Greater Boston area preferred) About the Role We are seeking a seasoned Data Governance Consultant to help establish foundational governance frameworks, policies, and operating cadences at Dinatrace. This individual will play a critical role in building out the core elements of a scalable data governance program and driving cross-functional engagement to ensure sustainable adoption across the enterprise. This position will collaborate closely with internal data owners, analysts, and cross-functional leadership. Pay: $70 - $80/hr W2 Responsibilities: Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, including foundational policies, processes, and documentation standards. Facilitate the development and communication of enterprise-wide data policies, including usage, classification, stewardship, and ownership. Define and roll out clear roles and responsibilities across teams (e.g., data owner, data steward, data custodian). Establish and operationalize Data Governance Councils, including Executive and Stewardship working groups. Partner with internal stakeholders to structure and lead cadences and rituals (e.g., governance meetings, feedback loops, and policy reviews). Contribute to the evaluation of a metadata management strategy and tool selection (experience with tools like Collibra, Alation, or Informatica is a plus). Collaborate with technical teams to align metadata strategy with platforms such as Snowflake, Power BI, and dbt. Provide thought leadership around AI readiness, metadata documentation standards, and cross-functional enablement. Ensure alignment with existing efforts in security, access control, and data quality being led by other governance team members. Experience Requirements: 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related domains. Proven track record in standing up or maturing enterprise data governance programs. Strong understanding of governance frameworks, stewardship models, policy development, and council facilitation. Familiarity with metadata management concepts and enterprise data catalog tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra, Informatica, DataHub). Awareness of AI/ML use cases and how metadata contributes to responsible AI practices is a strong plus. Working knowledge (no hands-on work required) of Snowflake, Power BI, and dbt is preferred. Experience working in or with tech organizations is strongly preferred due to pace and structure. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead conversations at both the executive and operational levels. Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree
