The Director of Sales & Marketing develops short-and long-term sales strategies for all property outlets, targeting new and existing markets. An exceptional leader above all else, the DOSM exemplifies healthy communication and customer service as the ultimate brand representative to the property, community and beyond. This position participates as a member of the Executive Committee, reporting directly to the General Manager. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support and direct the sales team utilizing a proactive approach to meet inbound and outbound expectations and achieve financial goals. Develop and implement annual strategic sales plan (SSP) with Marketing Manager, General Manager and Director of Food & Beverage. Prepare and execute annual sales & marketing expense budget with General Manager to achieve objectives defined by the SSP. Update forecasted property revenues and departmental expenses each quarter with Revenue Manager and Director of Food & Beverage. Prepare sales managers' booking goals. Continuously monitor and ensure team achieves or exceeds their goals, coaching and counseling as needed. Calculate goal achievement each month and accrue incentives accordingly with Director of Finance. Maintain oversight of workflows to identify and resolve operational challenges, maximizing team bandwidth to sell more than service. Conduct weekly meetings with the sales team, Revenue Manager, Marketing Manager, and General Manager. Maintain oversight of sales team efforts to further advance their talents through coaching and development of relationship management, negotiation and closing skills, etc. Monitor inbound pipeline to ensure all inquiries receive timely response; monitor response to ensure voice and tone are on-brand and effective. Attend and contribute to weekly BEO meetings, supporting sales team and Events Manager in communicating upcoming group resumes and BEOs to stakeholders, anticipating client and teammate needs, and ensuring smooth execution. Monitor CRM platform regularly, ensuring teammates are updating daily. Prepare a monthly production report from PMS / RMS, compare with reporting from other platforms to evaluate business and segments producing on property vs in the market; sign new corporate transient accounts and support production. Partner with CVB to showcase the property as a community fixture, supporting site visit requests; complete convention RFPs in accordance with timelines. Identify need dates 90+ days out and develop promotions and programming with Director of Food & Beverage, Revenue Manager and Marketing Manager to generate additional revenue. Support and direct Marketing Manager and marketing partners to continue weekly email campaigns, social media posts, content creator visits, and overall awareness efforts in accordance with brand guidelines. Support and direct Marketing Manager in maintaining a fresh and robust library of content within budgeted spend. Ensure all collateral, promotional materials, events, and products adhere to brand guidelines. Evaluate all sponsorship inquiries and advocate for participation to Marketing Manager, Director of Food & Beverage and General Manager, prioritizing opportunities that generate revenue or achieve SSP objectives. Develop short- and long-term product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategies with Revenue Manager to optimize market share in each segment. Ensure all available distribution channels are utilized; submit annual consortia agreements. Comply with all accounting standards with support from the Director of Finance. Qualifications: Must be positive, results oriented and able to work under pressure Enjoys working with a diverse group of team members, public relations professionals, and journalists Demonstrated success growing revenue at an independent lifestyle property, prefer experience working with multiple food and beverage outlets including banquets and catering Strong sales skills with thorough knowledge of industry technique, upsell strategy, and closing ability Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to express your voice digitally Proficient with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, database management, and web navigation; experience working with StayNTouch and TripleSeat preferred but not necessary Knowledge of contractual agreements and associated legal implications Possess exceptional time management skills Available to work beyond business hours as needed; position requires dedication to clients and community partners, and may often exceed 40 hours per week Must pass a background check Education/Experience: Minimum of five years in hotel sales required with at least two years in a leadership role Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, or business preferred; or the equivalent work experience to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for success in this role The Manchester Hotel is an equal opportunity employer.
