Police Attendant

The Criminal Justice Bureau (CJB) facilitates the safe, timely, and efficient processing of all persons arrested in the City of New York. CJB is the operational liaison between the NYPD and other law enforcement agencies (District Attorney's Offices, Office of Court Administration, Criminal Justice Agency, Division of Criminal Justice Services, and Department of Correction) within the criminal justice community working collaboratively in the arrest to arraignment process. CJB is comprised of five (5) borough court sections, one (1) Court Monitoring Section and a Bureau office. Each Borough court section is responsible for arraigning prisoners after the initial arrest processing is completed. Upon arrival at a central booking facility, official photographs are taken, DNA is collected when required, medical screening is performed, and prisoners are guarded until they are ready for arraignment. Police Attendants are responsible for duties such as but not limited to: -Searching prisoners to ensure that property that is unsafe is removed. -Inspecting cells for serviceability, cleanliness and security. -Assisting with iris verification scans for defendants pending arraignment. -Verifying prisoner NYSID responses. -Attending to the needs of prisoners: provide meals and other essentials. -Making data entry of lodging locations into zOLPA computer system Work Location: Varies Work Schedule: Varies Additional Information: NOTE: This position is open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a program. You may be able to consolidate a Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) and Federal Perkins Loan into a Direct Loan to qualify for PSLF.
