The Staff Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting finance excellence across the organization. This position goes beyond traditional accounting
it's about transforming the way we work. You will be part of team that is streamlining accounting processes while embracing automation, including implementation of smarter workflows that will boost accuracy and efficiency. As a member of the accounting team you will be part of the monthly financial reporting process as well as ensuring compliance of internal controls. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, monthly close process, adherence to internal controls process improvement through automation and streamlined workflows, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making. Also, responsible for financial inquires, problem resolution, and other duties as assigned. Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Work Experience
13 years of accounting experience, preferably public accounting setting or healthcare industry. Skills
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.) and other Office software. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Understanding of the financial statement close process (monthly, quarterly, and year-end). Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential Functions
General Ledger Management:
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the general ledger. Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions, including journal entries and account adjustments.
Account Reconciliation:
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts. Identify discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Financial Reporting:
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Help prepare reports for management and auditors, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Month-End/Year-End Close:
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded and accurate. Prepare and submit necessary journal entries to close accounting periods. Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
Tax Compliance:
Assist with preparation of 990 tax filings, and other related documents.
Internal Controls:
Support adherence to company policies and procedures regarding financial transactions, accounting, and reporting. Help identify opportunities to improve processes, ensure efficiency, and strengthen internal controls.
Audit Support:
Assist auditors by providing requested documentation and responding to inquiries during the annual audit process.
Budget:
Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Participate in special projects or perform other duties as assigned by management. Support the development and implementation of financial strategies. Collaborate with other departments to gather and analyze relevant data.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA candidate status (or plans to pursue certification), preferred.
