The City College of New York is currently accepting applications for the position of ACE Academic Advisor. Launched in Fall 2023, the CCNY ACE program was established to support incoming transfer students by providing comprehensive academic, career, and financial support services. As the program enters a new phase of expansion, we are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Academic Senior Advisor to support its continued growth and contribute to the successful implementation of its next stage. This is a meaningful opportunity to directly impact student success and engagement at the College. ASAP and ACE programs help students earn their college degree as quickly as possible, by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP I ACE program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. Financial incentives include tuition waivers for financial aid eligible students, yearly textbook vouchers, and monthly MetroCards for all students. The ACE Academic Advisor is a member of an integrated team providing individual academic, career and related support to an assigned group of program students, utilizing a variety of modalities, as they progress towards their associate degree. Reporting to the ACE Director (or their designee) the Academic Advisor is responsible to carry out advisement services to their cohort of students in accordance with program policy, with the goal of retaining the maximum number of students each semester and graduating a minimum of 50% of each student cohort. The ACE Academic Advisor will collaborate with other program staff, as well as faculty to provide coordinated services and support student success. The Academic Advisor assists with all program initiatives, including special events and recruitment, if necessary. General Duties
Deliver comprehensive advisement support services to an assigned group of students through degree completion, according to campus program advisement rubric Utilize campus degree maps to create semester by semester academic plans for freshman, continuing and/or transfer students as appropriate Consistently review student progress and provide timely interventions to keep students on track toward degree Enter/document/track all student contact in ASAP program and/or college student database, recommend referral and services as appropriate Run student contact queries/reports consistently to determine outreach and follow up needed to meet students with the frequency and modality required by the program Conduct workshops and group advisement on topics of relevance and interest Collaborate with the Student Academic Success Hub team to align advising practices with campus-wide retention and engagement strategies Coordinate with CCNY faculty and academic departments to support students in navigating major requirements, course selection, and academic policies Integrate career development into advising sessions, helping students connect academic goals with career pathways and experiential learning opportunities Collaborate with the Career and Professional Development Institute {CPDI) to connect students with internships, job opportunities, and career readiness workshops Support students in developing essential career/ NACE competencies, such as resume writing, interview preparation, and networking skills, and ensure they are aware of and engaged with campus resources that enhance their post-graduation success Participate in ACE team meetings and Hub-wide initiatives, contributing to a collaborative and data-informed advising culture Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new ACE students, including orientation sessions and transition support for incoming transfers Performs related duties as assigned Founded in 1847 as the first free public institution of higher education in the United States, The City College of New York (CCNY) is the flagship college of the City University of New York {CUNY) system. Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Educational Administration, Educational Psychology and/or Social Work Experience working to provide guidance, support and services to students, transfer students a plus Strong understanding of the educational needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and detailed student records Demonstrated skill in understanding and respecting cultural differences Demonstrated knowledge of equitable and inclusiye advisement practices to support students Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access and Excel); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed Strong organization, collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills Demonstrated experience in academic and career advising, including the ability to support students in exploring career pathways, developing career readiness skills, and connecting academic planning with professional goals CUNY Title Overview

Counsels prospective, transfer, and current students on their academic goals and how they may be achieved at the College, and assists them in preparing academic plans. Provides referrals to other College departments as needed to further assist student/applicant. Conducts follow-up with students from inquiry stage to registration. Reviews applications and provides preliminary recommendations on admissions. Participates in recruitment programs such as open house sessions, and direct recruiting activities. Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $64,649 - $70,238. Salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
