An employee in this position monitors and maintains lift stations along with sewer lines and system for Harnett Regional Water. This position depends on certification: Collection System Technician Trainee/I - $39,279 Collection System Technician II - $41,243 Collection System Technician III - $43,305 Collection System Technician IV - $45,471. Essential functions of the position include: Checks and maintains lift stations. Cleans sewer wet wells. Responds to and clears sewer backups. Cleans bar screens. Maintains sewer lines and system. Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle to travel as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum requirements to perform work include: High school diploma or equivalent; No experience required; Or equivalent education and/or experience. Possession of a NC Collections Grade I Certification. Possession of a valid North Carolina commercial driver's license (Class A). Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include: Knowledge of the principles of plumbing and mechanical maintenance as applicable to water distribution systems. Knowledge of the geographical layout of the County. Skill in using equipment and tools necessary for locating and unearthing water system fixtures. Skill in performing mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. Ability to perform minor equipment repairs. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, possibly under challenging and arduous conditions. Ability to meet deadlines. Physical demands include the ability to perform heavy work exerting up to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; frequently requiring 30 pounds of force to move objects; and occasionally requiring to exert up to 100 pounds of force to move objects. This work also involves the physical abilities of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, kneeling, lifting, having manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, reaching, performing repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word, and walking. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to operate equipment and look for defects. The employee works primarily in the field and is subject to various hazards. Requires working for extended periods of time, possibly under challenging and arduous conditions. This position will receive benefits from the State of North Carolina.
