Under minimal supervision, the Grants and Contracts Specialist provides administrative support to researchers by identifying funding opportunities, assisting with proposal preparation and processing, negotiating contracts, managing awards, and supporting post-award administration. Experience and Education
Required: Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
Applicants without the stated degree but with significant additional applicable professional experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement
Experience: 4 years of experience in business or public administration, with an emphasis on customer service in financial or contracting roles
Preferred: Certification: Certified Research Administrator (CRA), upon hire
Job Duties
Identify and share funding opportunities and application procedures by reviewing newsletters, announcements, directories, and funding databases
Guide researchers through proposal development and submission, ensuring compliance with sponsor and university guidelines
Provide grants management support by negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining necessary approvals, and completing required reports
Negotiate contracts with state and federal agencies, private organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and biotech firms to reach mutually satisfactory agreements
Draft contracts in accordance with state laws and Board of Regents guidelines
Provide working supervision to Grants and Contracts Specialists and administrative staff
Perform other duties as assigned
