Lead Conveyor Engineer
We are seeking a seasoned Lead Conveyor Engineer with extensive experience in bulk material handling systems to join a well-established industrial engineering firm. This leadership position is responsible for managing the technical execution of conveyor projects, ensuring all engineering deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and completed on schedule. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional departments including mechanical, electrical, and structural teams, as well as external vendors and subcontractors. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities:
Define project execution strategies alongside senior leadership Establish and coordinate internal and external project teams Set priorities, timelines, and deliverable schedules Lead mechanical design for conveyors, chutes, and towers using SolidWorks and AutoCAD Establish system layout and general arrangement drawings Use Belt Analyst software to determine power requirements and key system components Collaborate with structural engineers on foundations and load considerations Integrate third-party equipment into system designs as needed Oversee and coordinate 3rd party engineering disciplines (electrical, structural, detailing) Ensure alignment between all technical departments throughout project phases Facilitate coordination between engineering, procurement, and construction teams Assign project tasks and monitor progress of internal design engineers Manage engineering hours and maintain budgetary compliance Participate in client interactions, design reviews, and vendor approvals Provide technical support during construction and commissioning Conduct lessons-learned reviews post-project completion Evaluate design effectiveness, constructability, vendor performance, and cost efficiency Contribute to process and design improvements for future projects Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of recent experience in bulk material handling conveyor design Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Belt Analyst Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, steel fabrication, and AISC requirements Experience managing or coordinating third-party engineering deliverables Strong project leadership, time management, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Familiarity with CEMA-standard conveyor systems Experience supporting procurement, construction, and commissioning teams Additional Details:
Position is fully onsite in Alpharetta, GA Occasional travel (up to 25%) may be required during installation and commissioning Company offers highly competitive benefits and covers 99% of employee-only health insurance upon direct hire Relocation assistance may be negotiated for the right candidate Location: Alpharetta, GA Type: 6-Month Temp-to-Direct (Direct Hire considered) Schedule: MondayFriday | 8:00 AM
