The appointment of the General Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of rail and track construction, maintenance, and repair projects including rail facilities on behalf of Amtrak. This role requires a strong general contracting background and a proven ability to manage large-scale projects effectively. Key Responsibilities: Project Management:
Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets. Team Leadership:
Manage, mentor and motivate a team of engineers, foremen, and skilled workers. Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and standards. Quality Control:
Monitor the quality of work and materials to ensure they meet specifications. Cost Management:
Be consistent with project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Equipment Management:
Coordinate the procurement, maintenance, and repair of necessary equipment. Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in rail and track construction or maintenance. Strong general contracting background, including experience assisting in future bidding, estimating, and contract administration. Proven leadership and management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Knowledge of safety regulations and standards. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with rail infrastructure planning and design. Knowledge of various rail track materials and construction techniques. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project). Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
