The Ambulatory Patient Care Tech will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role involves performing basic nursing activities, maintaining a safe and clean patient care environment, assisting staff, and managing patient flow.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED (Required) Certifications:
C.N.A, PCT, or EMT Certification (Required) Minimum Work Experience:
1 year in an acute healthcare setting, preferably pediatrics (Preferred) Functional Responsibilities Clinical Activities: Collect and document patient information, including chief complaint, medications, allergies, and exposure history. Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and head circumference. Orient families to the clinic environment. Recognize abnormalities, assist in pain screening, identify signs of abuse or neglect, and respond with appropriate interventions, including Basic Life Support when necessary. Provide basic nursing care such as nourishment, ambulation assistance, and escorting patients at discharge. Ensure all equipment is operational and perform repairs or report issues as needed. Collect specimens for testing, perform point-of-care tests, and inform families about collection procedures and available resources. Maintain documentation standards and complete required cleanliness and safety checks. Patient Flow and Unit Efficiency: Maintain a neat environment, prepare exam rooms, prioritize tasks, and manage supplies. Monitor waiting areas and guide families to services, noting special needs. Communication: Contribute to a positive work environment, communicate effectively with families and team members, and address concerns professionally. Laboratory Competency: Perform quality control, process specimens, troubleshoot issues, and maintain lab equipment. Self-Responsibility: Follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, pursue ongoing education, and adhere to certification and licensure requirements. Organizational Responsibilities: Respond to customer needs, demonstrate teamwork, contribute to process improvements, and promote safety.
