Job Description Summary
The GE Aerospace Research Programs Office connects the business, product, and technology needs of GE Aerospace and our customers (including the U.S. Government) with the technical workforce within the research center to provide differentiated solutions. As the Emerging Sciences & Technologies Platform Leader, you will partner with the GE Aerospace Research technical & leadership teams to ensure efficient utilization of R&D resources and alignment to near-, mid-, and far-field priorities. You will support the Director of the Programs Office in balancing and optimizing the overall research portfolio across multiple stakeholder groups, including GE Aerospace, industry customers, partners, and U.S. Government agencies. As a Platform Leader, you will manage coordination and sensing rhythms with GE Aerospace and external customers, ensuring strong connectivity to emerging and challenging needs. You will foster collaboration among Research teams and develop a unified Platform growth pathway embraced by both internal and external stakeholders. Your role includes translating customer needs into actionable programs, helping launch research initiatives, and facilitating technology transfer across the aerospace sector to ensure GE Aerospace Research remains a leader in industry progress. The Emerging Sciences & Technologies Platform Leader will identify, engage with, and assess novel scientific and technological developments, focusing on disruption and opportunity for industry and GE Aerospace customers. You will elevate awareness of emerging fields and architect pathways to capitalize on transformational capabilities. Additionally, you will partner across the Research Center to own customer relationships, serving as the primary contact for access to the research center. Roles and Responsibilities
Build, coordinate, and own planning, funding, and pursuit of external contracts to deliver capabilities and solutions for customers. Connect the Research team to customer challenges and help build cross-organizational teams to address them. Ensure vitality of existing technology programs while creating new relationships; champion and communicate customer needs and the business situation to the research center. Define product and technical differentiation roadmaps and inform long-term technical strategies with business leaders. Identify key technical competencies vital to the business and work with technical leadership on resource planning and technology application. Understand the business product portfolio and link customer needs to technical programs. Establish Aerospace Research technologists as strategic partners in business planning. Host internal and external visitors to the Research Centers for collaborative engagement. Partner with stakeholders to shape technology development opportunities that deliver value to governmental customers. Provide insights on technical demand and skill sets to enable growth planning. Support program accountability by monitoring execution and facilitating tradeoffs as needed. Prioritize and drive adoption of technologies from research into the business or third-party partners. Manage customer relationships and seek feedback for continuous improvement. Recruit, grow, and develop talent to foster cross-pollination between GE Aerospace and the Research Center. Required Qualifications
Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering with 10 years’ relevant experience. Strong technical background with project/program management experience and knowledge of GE application portfolio. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple efforts effectively. Proven track record of cross-functional engagement and interaction with customers and management. Ability to build a network across internal and external organizations. Must obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Willingness to work onsite in Lynn MA, Evendale OH, or Niskayuna NY. Desired Characteristics
Similar qualifications as above, emphasizing experience and technical expertise. Ability to use technical data subject to U.S. Government restrictions; U.S. citizenship required for security clearance. The base pay range for this position is $165,000 - $275,000 annually, influenced by experience, education, and skills. The role includes an annual discretionary bonus, benefits such as healthcare, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and other perks. The posting closes on July 2, 2025. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information, contingent on obtaining authorization from the U.S. Government for non-U.S. persons. Additional Information
