Mobile Health Center Nurse Practitioner - PRN with MedStar Health's Care Transformation - Baltimore Region Team
Knowing you need a medical appointment is one thing, but having access for our most vulnerable patients in the community is another. The MedStar Mobile Health Center offers a solution in communities across the Baltimore area. This position would help staff two mobile health center units in the Baltimore region, including near Medstar Harbor Hospital, Medstar Union Memorial, Medstar Good Samaritan, and Medstar Franklin Square Hospital. The MedStar Mobile Health Center seeks an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner with at least two years of NP experience in primary care, emergency room, urgent care, FQHC, or other community health settings to work PRN with our mobile health team. The candidate should have a passion for mobile healthcare, public health, and serving vulnerable communities across the lifespan. The mobile health center provides primary care services, urgent care, wellness exams, on-site testing, and addresses social determinants of health needs. Each mobile health unit travels to four locations regularly, and the candidate will provide cross coverage on both units and at occasional weekend community events. The candidate must be comfortable addressing common acute and chronic illnesses, as well as complex disease states, as the sole medical provider, with access to a medical director on call. An interdisciplinary team, including a registrar, community health advocate, and medical assistant/phlebotomy, supports the mobile health center. The clinic operates four days a week at set sites throughout Baltimore. The candidate will report directly to the Medical Director of the Mobile Health Center. Availability of at least 2 days a week (Monday-Friday) and occasional weekend events (1-2 times/month) is required. The ideal candidate would have: 2+ years of experience supporting underserved populations, including uninsured or underinsured individuals Strong communication, interpersonal, and triage skills Flexibility, innovation, and compassion as a self-starter Interest in community outreach and quality improvement Ability to travel throughout Baltimore city and county Masters Degree in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited school and active Maryland license Experience treating all age groups Experience with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) or willingness to obtain it (preferred) Bilingual Spanish speaking skills (preferred) Additional credentials such as DNP, MBA, MHA, or MPH (preferred) Join us at MedStar Mobile Health Center and be part of something greater.
