Description
Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are Nurse Practitioners (NP), Physician Assistants (PA), or Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS). The APP is credentialed by the medical staff and functions within their scope of practice in their jurisdictional area and in accordance with organizational medical staff bylaws. They are responsible for providing evidence-based care for patient management, including assessment, implementation, and evaluation of detailed care plans that incorporate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The APP demonstrates competency in providing age-appropriate care as defined by certification and training, and provides family-centered care to meet family needs, including psychological support, education, and discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines. The APP initiates, participates, and collaborates with divisional and organizational multidisciplinary staff to provide and support evidence-based education, quality improvement, and research. They participate in professional and organizational activities that contribute to improving patient care, advancing the scientific knowledge base of advanced practice, program operation, and individual professional development. They provide leadership within their clinical area through participation in division projects and mentorship of others, and contribute to department and organization-wide initiatives, representing advanced practice and promoting the role of the advanced practice provider.
