We are seeking a detail-oriented
Commercial Lines Underwriter
to assess and underwrite new and renewal business across various commercial lines. This role involves evaluating risk, pricing policies accurately, and contributing to profitable book growth while maintaining underwriting discipline. Compensation
$60,000 - $80,000/year Performance-based bonuses Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and more Professional development support and career advancement opportunities Requirements
3+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting Strong understanding of insurance principles, policy forms, and rating methodologies Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, or related field (professional designations like CPCU or AU a plus) Responsibilities
Review and evaluate commercial insurance applications for lines such as property, general liability, auto, and workers’ compensation Determine risk acceptability, coverage terms, and appropriate pricing in accordance with company guidelines Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and internal teams to drive profitable growth Analyze loss control reports, financial statements, and other supporting documentation to assess risk quality Maintain accurate documentation of underwriting decisions and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards Contribute to underwriting strategy through market insights and portfolio monitoring Additional Details
