RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is seeking an attorney with asset management experience, including related to the distribution of registered investment companies (such as mutual funds, ETFs, and closed-end funds), separately managed accounts, and model portfolios through broker-dealers, registered investment advisers, and technology platforms. The role will be within the Asset and Wealth (AWM) legal team, focusing on the distribution and marketing of registered funds, separately managed accounts, and model portfolios, which generally invest in securities in the public markets (equity and debt) and other asset classes such as credit, real estate, infrastructure, and impact investing. The attorney will support portfolio management teams in negotiating investment management agreements with large institutional clients and support strategic initiatives related to GSAM's public investing business and Third-Party Wealth business. Responsibilities also include identifying legal and reputational risks, managing external counsel, and engaging with relevant committees. The legal team provides ongoing support on advisory, regulatory, and asset management issues, with a key focus on analyzing and responding to evolving global legal and regulatory frameworks.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
4+ years of related legal experience in a reputable law firm or in-house role
Working knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act
Knowledge of the Investment Company Act (useful)
Outstanding law firm and law school credentials
Thought leader with strong analytical skills and sound judgment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong project and time management skills
Motivated to expand skill set and excel in a challenging environment
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
