Responsibilities
Secure financial clearance for patients, providers, and the health system.
Work closely with administrative, clinical, and management teams to support practice operations and customer service recovery and intervention.
Support financial clearance functions including authorizations, PAFRs, LOAs, billing, and RFIs.
Resolve billing-related issues in APeX (Epic) independently to maximize payor reimbursement and RVU charge capture.
Review medical record documentation to address billing/authorization questions.
Manage assigned authorization and billing work queues daily to minimize denials.
Maintain routine clerical operations and communications, adhering to UCSF standards.
Provide excellent customer service, facilitating accurate information flow between medical, hospital staff, and departments.
Perform tasks at any UCSF campus as needed and scheduled.
Qualifications Must have an advanced understanding of healthcare terminology, processes, workflow, and billing/authorizations. Excellent people skills, including telephone technique, professionalism, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written), are essential. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work well with all levels of staff, including faculty, management, and coworkers.
Additional Information The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy approval. Salary range: $31.91 - $45.70 per hour. Placement within the range depends on experience and internal equity. For union-represented positions, placement follows collective bargaining rules.
