A prestigious intellectual property law firm is seeking a junior Patent Attorney with a background in Biomedical Engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent drafting and prosecution and the ability to work across various areas of Biomedical Engineering and related sciences. A Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, along with a strong background in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, medical devices, medical imaging, or robotics. This position offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements while developing strong client relationships in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Location: Duties: Draft and prosecute patent applications related to Biomedical Engineering and related sciences. Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop patent strategies. Conduct patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses in the biomedical and related fields. Prepare responses to office actions from patent offices. Assist in preparing for oral hearings and patent-related legal arguments. Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing strategic IP advice. Work effectively as part of a team, ensuring high-quality service and client satisfaction. Requirements: Experience in patent drafting and prosecution. Background in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline. Ability to handle matters across most areas of Biomedical Engineering and related sciences. Strong interpersonal and writing skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of patent law and experience with patent prosecution. Education: J.D. from an accredited law school. Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field is preferred. Additional background in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, medical devices, medical imaging, or robotics is a plus. Certifications: Admission to at least one state bar is required. Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a plus. Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills. Strong technical knowledge in Biomedical Engineering and related fields. In-depth understanding of patent prosecution processes. Ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues in a team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
