Senior Manager, Power Electronics Firmware About the Role
ChargePoint is seeking an experienced Power Electronics Controls and Firmware Engineer with over 5 years of embedded power control firmware development experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Control Engineering and Power Electronics, specifically for next-generation fast charging products. Responsibilities
Develop and implement embedded controls for PFC, Chargers, DC/DC, and inverters. Board bring-up experience, device driver development for CAN, I2C, SPI, etc. Participate in developing specifications, design reviews, and execute unit tests. Prove design concepts through simulation and laboratory testing. Develop automated test cases for Hardware-In-Loop testing (preferable). Stay updated with the latest in Digital control/Controllers technology. Write lean, real-time interrupt-driven code. Understand schematics and debug hardware issues. Comprehend safety regulatory requirements for power converters used in fast chargers. Required Skills
Over 5 years of proven experience developing Power Electronics products. Over 5 years of programming experience in C/C++, Assembly for 32-bit controllers, DSPs, and Python for scripting and automation. Firmware Development:
Experience in embedded firmware development using C/C++ for real-time systems. Power Electronics Knowledge:
Strong understanding of control techniques for inverters, rectifiers, and dc-dc converters (LLC, CLLC, DAB, etc.). Knowledge of Grid-tie inverter systems is a plus. Hands-on high power lab experience to debug hardware issues. Proficiency in microcontroller programming and peripherals (timers, PWM, interrupts, GPIOs, ADC, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, Ethernet). Experience with version control systems such as Git, SVN. Expertise in developing secure bootloaders, including memory management, firmware partitioning, communication interfaces, flash programming, and validation. Experience in HIL testing, setup, simulation, plant modeling, scripting, fault injection, and analysis. Proven firmware debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers. Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). Knowledge of communication protocols used in power electronics systems. Experience in developing control systems for power inverters/converters. Skills in control system design, modeling, and simulation using Plecs, MATLAB, Simulink or similar tools. FPGA programming and simulation experience is a plus. Compensation and Diversity
ChargePoint is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The targeted US salary range for this role is $70,000 to $185,000, based on skills, experience, certifications, and location.
