Cybersecurity Specialist/Mid-Level Position Type:

Hybrid-remote to DC Metro area only

Responsibilities

Define, design, and develop system requirements, perform tradeoff analyses, and assess architecture and hardware limitations.

Coordinate subsystem design and system integration, define support requirements, and analyze program deficiencies.

Conduct technical investigations in systems design and evaluate vendor capabilities.

Perform comprehensive security assessments for systems in various states of Authorization (Initial, Reauthorization, Continuous Monitoring).

Review and recommend updates to the System Authorization process, ensuring accuracy of system inventories, POA&Ms, and support services.

Develop Security Assessment Plans (SAP), Security Assessment Reports (SAR), and risk assessments aligned with NIST standards.

Create and maintain documentation including executive summaries, briefing materials, and compliance reports.

Ensure all assessment activities adhere to established security and privacy policies, with clear, professional communication.

Required Qualifications

Strong cybersecurity expertise across applications, databases, networking, and architecture.

Excellent communication skills in verbal, written, and visual formats.

Experience with System Security Plans, risk strategies, and security tools.

Proficiency in managing security documentation and conducting vulnerability assessments.

Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

Knowledge of applicable laws, directives, and standards including FISMA, NIST publications, and FedRAMP.

Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, privacy policies, and federal information security regulations.

Experience with cybersecurity tools, risk management, and compliance reporting.

U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for a Public Trust clearance.

Minimum four years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Position located in the DC Metro area.
