Sr. Firmware Development Engineer
Job Purpose: The Sr. Firmware Development Engineer will participate in firmware engineering activities for the VES firmware development group, supporting cutting-edge data storage and server product design in Colorado Springs. Reporting to the Firmware Engineering Manager, the candidate will be involved in storage/server product design, firmware requirement definition, and firmware code development on BMC/SES. Responsibilities also include supporting field issues related to BMC/SES firmware and collaborating with external partners to resolve problems. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of independently completing firmware design documentation, code development, and unit testing to deliver high-quality firmware on schedule. Nature of Duties: Collaborate with Storage/Server hardware design and firmware architects to provide early input on firmware requirements. Work with firmware architects to complete high-level and low-level design documents. Coordinate with the project team to provide task sizing and scheduling. Lead firmware development from design, implementation, and testing to hardware/software integration and bug resolution, ensuring project completion to GA. Participate in firmware code development and reviews. Provide weekly status updates to program management. Support field application engineers in debugging and resolving customer site issues. Education and Experience: BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. 8+ years of hands-on experience in product design and firmware development within a medium or large global organization. Strong knowledge of embedded system design. Preferred experience with BIOS/BMC firmware development. Proficiency in various operating systems (Linux, Windows, Unix). Experience with server/storage system architecture. Preferred experience testing BMC, BIOS, and SES firmware for storage/server applications. Good hardware/software integration skills. Knowledge of SES, BMC, BIOS testing requirements. Excellent communication skills for interaction with customers and engineering teams. Proficiency in AMI BIOS customization.
