We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and customer service-oriented individual for the position of University
Security Systems Specialist (Overnight Shift)
at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington, DC. This position is for the overnight shift (11:30 PM - 7:00 AM). Specific Duties and Responsibilities Monitor and respond to proprietary closed circuit television systems for events or activities that may require a security response. Provide general assistance and information to University students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Complete tasks necessary for the operation of the Command Center. Answer emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio calls, assess the call's nature, and determine the appropriate response. Dispatch the appropriate level of public safety response according to university policy and guidelines. Coordinate responses among HBC Public Safety, Facilities Management, and Student Affairs, transmitting relevant information to security personnel. Track locations of public safety personnel and relay pertinent information. Facilitate law enforcement, Fire, and EMS responses to university incidents. Keep Public Safety management informed of ongoing incidents. Create and maintain reports, logs, records, and data manually and electronically. Promulgate schedules of events and building access requirements. Serve as the university switchboard and liaison for student health care and emergency maintenance during non-business hours. Work flexible shifts and unscheduled overtime, including holidays and weekends, for operational and special events.
Requirements Availability to work weekends, holidays, and irregular shifts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and troubleshooting Windows computers; familiarity with wireless technology. Proficient in CCTV systems, video analytics, and surveillance technology. Ability to troubleshoot camera system issues. Ability to handle crisis and routine situations calmly and effectively. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and logs. Ability to understand operational procedures and instructions. Strong customer service orientation and professional interaction skills. Capability to handle complex assignments efficiently.
Minimum Qualifications
High school Diploma or GED. Two years of related experience with security systems, including communication technology and call-taking techniques. Ability to pass a Maryland State Police / FBI background check and health screening, including drug testing.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in law enforcement communication centers, security companies, or emergency management. Experience as a crime analyst or criminal research specialist. Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Liberal Arts, Cyber Security, or Social Sciences.
