We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to cloud innovations. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and seek talented individuals to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and others. You’ll collaborate across AWS to uphold safety, security, and cost-efficiency while fostering an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and ownership. The ideal candidate is an innovative self-starter, an SSD NAND expert with experience in component characterization, media management, system integration, and optimizing reliability and performance. You will work with internal and external engineers on NAND development for custom solid-state devices. AWS engineers are shaping future cloud computing—help us make history! What you will do:
Design AWS-specific hardware, firmware, and software for non-volatile memory devices, focusing on NAND integration. Lead cross-functional efforts from conception through production, working closely with software engineers to tailor devices for AWS. Why it matters:

Define NAND specifications and roadmaps, lead NAND integration, develop strategies to improve SSD performance, reliability, and cost, oversee a global fleet, and collaborate with external partners to deliver advanced storage solutions. A day in the life:
Lead NAND technology integration, define requirements, optimize validation, and drive cost, reliability, and performance improvements. Monitor a fleet of millions of SSDs, analyze data, and enhance AWS service performance. About The Team:
Develop advanced storage products, impacting millions of customers, and gaining expertise in cloud infrastructure and global service delivery. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 5+ years of NAND characterization and development experience with SSDs or similar storage systems Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of NAND experience Expertise in 3D NAND flash memory, device physics, failure mechanisms, failure analysis Understanding of NAND media management, SSD concepts like wear-leveling, garbage collection, error correction Experience with SSD firmware, controllers, NAND integration Large-scale data center operation experience Data analysis skills using Python/R or scripting languages Alignment with Amazon's leadership principles Amazon is an equal opportunity employer.
