Using advanced knowledge of documentation, regulatory, and payer requirements, along with clinical expertise, manages the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Program to promote the quality, completeness, and accuracy of medical record documentation by the Medical Staff and interdisciplinary team. Interviews, hires, trains staff; plans, assigns, evaluates performance; provides corrective actions; addresses complaints; resolves problems. Oversees work to maintain productivity and ensure task completion. Produces reports on productivity, user activity, query response rates, etc. Participates in performance improvement activities and committees. Develops and revises policies and procedures. Participates in staff meetings and mandatory training sessions. Applies educational techniques suitable for adult learners. Demonstrates organizational skills and attention to detail. Manages multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. Assists in financial management, including budgeting. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, considering cultural and language differences. Department Specific Competencies
Develops and manages the CDI program, educating physicians and providers on documentation standards. Evaluates data collection systems and maintains documentation prompts. Assesses clinical conditions and documentation accuracy, focusing on impactful patient populations. Uses software for documentation reviews and manages record review prioritization. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards. Provides data for reports and analysis. Plans and evaluates educational programs for staff development. Collaborates with Medical Staff leaders to improve documentation compliance. Education
Bachelors degree or higher in healthcare. Experience
Minimum of 3 years in Clinical Documentation Improvement, with at least 1 year of management experience in a CDI program. Certifications required include CDIP or CCDS, and either RN licensed in California, RHIA, or equivalent medical credential. License / Certification Requirements
Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) and Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS). Compensation Range
$114,608.00 - $190,361.00 annually. #J-18808-Ljbffr
