Communications Coordinator
at CFJ is responsible for developing and executing a multifaceted communications strategy to support the center’s mission and goals. Responsibilities include media relations, managing external partners and vendors, and enhancing our public presence through social media, earned media, graphic design, podcast production, and content research. Reporting to the Executive Director and collaborating with the Faculty Director, duties include: Building and executing a cross-platform communication strategy using the website, podcast, Substack, email newsletters, and social media. Researching and supporting communication materials to ensure alignment with organizational values and goals. Managing social media strategies across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Organizing and promoting events and programming. Drafting press releases, media advisories, and op-eds to secure media coverage. Pitched stories to national and local outlets. Supervising work-study students’ communications efforts. Work Interactions The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director, supervises part-time student workers, and collaborates with various university offices and external partners. Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree. 2-4 years’ experience in writing, content creation, media relations, social media, and communications strategy. Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities. Experience with faith and politics issues preferred. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Excellent organizational, communication, and personnel management skills. Experience with faith or political communications, event organization, social media platforms, WordPress, graphic design software, and podcasting is preferred. Basic video editing skills are a plus.
