The Environmental Project Manager will be an experienced technical and client leader for large-scale projects in HDR’s Water Business Group. You will interact with and lead HDR environmental sciences & planning staff, CEQA & NEPA practitioners, and other multidisciplinary teams. The position involves working closely with HDR leadership to develop programs in Southern California, focusing on water resource clients and projects. The candidate must have a strong understanding and experience with CEQA & NEPA, as well as integrated water resources planning, water supply, treatment, conveyance, flood control, stormwater, groundwater, and coastal water resources. Skills in business development, networking, client relationship management, and strategic planning are also essential.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage the preparation of small to large-scale CEQA & NEPA documents for various water resource projects.

Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned teams; recommend performance improvements and manage staff utilization and profitability.

Track personnel actions, staff development, recruiting, hiring, and training.

Lead quality control efforts, ensuring quality work through proactive project management and corrective measures.

Mentor team members and ensure leadership and supervision on technical assignments.

Work with client development leadership to prioritize marketing and business development efforts.

Promote a quality culture within the sector and production teams.

Represent HDR at professional organizations and industry events.

Ensure safety of staff and clients, promoting the Drive to Zero culture.

Interpret, implement, and enforce company policies.

Perform additional duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

BS or BA with at least 7 years of experience in CEQA & NEPA documentation, regulatory compliance, and water resource disciplines.

Master’s degree in environmental science, water resources, or related field preferred.

Experience with Southern California water agencies and federal agencies.

Proven ability in proposal writing, scope development, budgeting, and managing multidisciplinary teams.

Minimum 2 years of project management experience.

Proficiency with MS Office, strong communication skills, and GIS experience.

Knowledge of federal and state water regulations, habitat restoration, and water supply planning.

Experience with California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, or New Mexico markets and client groups.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

7 years of relevant experience.

At least 2 years of project management experience.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.
