Goodwin is a leading global law firm with a strong Life Sciences Practice, advising clients in biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, and healthcare investments. We offer strategic legal and business counsel throughout the corporate lifecycle, including M&A, capital markets, venture capital, private equity, and intellectual property. We seek an experienced, senior Client Development leader with strong leadership skills, deep industry relationships, and the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team. You will work closely with firm leadership and practice groups to drive growth, strengthen client relationships, and position Goodwin as the go-to law firm for life sciences companies and investors. This role reports to the Managing Director of Client Development for Life Sciences and Healthcare and involves shaping and executing business development strategies aligned with the firm’s goals. The ideal candidate is strategic, results-oriented, industry-savvy, and capable of influencing senior stakeholders and developing scalable initiatives. What You Will Do

Shape strategic growth plans in collaboration with LS leaders and practice management. Develop and oversee initiatives to enhance client relationships, growth, and brand presence, ensuring alignment with firm culture and long-term sustainability. Leverage industry relationships to facilitate client introductions and expand market presence. Monitor industry trends and intelligence to inform business development strategies and initiatives. Develop high-quality marketing materials and campaigns to elevate Goodwin’s reputation in the life sciences sector. Collaborate with PR/Communications to position Goodwin as a thought leader through publications and media strategies. Talent & Operations

Implement scalable frameworks, processes, and systems to support growth objectives. Develop engagement programs and oversee operational improvements. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of business development professionals. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-impact team culture. Manage LS budget with a focus on ROI and growth alignment. Modernize policies and leverage technology for efficiency. Internal Collaboration

Support lateral partner integration and internal cross-functional collaboration. Partner with firm-wide teams to enhance data-driven decision-making. Share insights and best practices across practice groups. Who You Are

10+ years of client development experience, preferably in a large law firm or professional services within life sciences. Proven success in developing and executing growth strategies in biotech, pharma, or healthcare investments. Experience leading and managing a business development team. Strong industry relationships and credibility in the life sciences sector. Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills. Autonomous, results-driven, and adept at navigating complex organizational structures. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems. In-office presence at least 3 days per week; willingness to travel.
