Role Overview The Platform Engineering organization seeks an experienced engineering Director to lead Cloud Engineering, enabling effortless innovation of SiriusXM's software. You will oversee the AWS environment and internal development platform, providing foundational infrastructure, tooling, and support to technologists. Your responsibilities include defining the company-wide cloud strategy, managing core infrastructure, and supporting cloud architecture initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence SiriusXM’s technological future and lead a foundational team.
Key Responsibilities
Report to the Vice President of Platform Engineering and engage in cross-team leadership activities.
Manage and mentor engineering leaders and individual contributors.
Contribute to the strategic vision of Platform Engineering and SiriusXM technology.
Build relationships with internal developers to understand their needs and pain points.
Collaborate with Product Management to shape roadmaps.
Inspire teams to execute ambitious product and technical plans.
Provide feedback on product development artifacts.
Stay updated on industry trends to adopt new technologies.
Serve as the primary contact for AWS relationships.
Balance diverse stakeholder priorities including security, operations, and data science.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years in software engineering or similar, with 5+ years in management.
7+ years experience in architecting and deploying cloud-native applications, including 2+ years on AWS.
Knowledge of infrastructure concepts like IP networking, IAM, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing.
Proven experience in large-scale AWS environments and infrastructure as code (IaC).
Experience supporting development, operations, and security teams.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and provide clarity.
Fluency in at least two programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building internal developer platforms.
Knowledge of AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
AWS Solution Architect Professional Certification.
Fluency in TypeScript/Node.js.
Compensation ranges from $153,500 to $280,000, depending on experience, with potential incentives. SiriusXM is committed to a respectful, inclusive work environment and is an equal opportunity employer.
