Position Overview The Principal R&D Engineer (Balloon Technology) will develop innovative products for treating peripheral, coronary, and heart valve diseases. They will participate in cross-functional teams managing projects from concept through commercialization, supporting IVL balloon devices and developing new balloon technologies for future applications.

Essential Job Functions

Provide technical leadership and manage technology development teams.

Design and develop products compliant with Design Control and regulatory requirements.

Translate device requirements to balloon components in collaboration with R&D and PDP teams.

Survey emerging balloon and polymer science technologies and explore novel applications.

Identify and apply new balloon/polymer technologies to improve products.

Develop long-term strategies for new designs, materials, and processing methods.

Prototype and test new designs, disease models, and testing methods.

Work with clinical and scientific advisors to translate clinical needs into design solutions.

Procure and evaluate new materials, maintain supplier relationships.

Participate as SME or core team member from concept to commercialization.

Ensure proper documentation and compliance with quality systems.

Develop protocols, perform testing, and support IP development.

Stay informed on competitive and biomedical developments.

Support company policies, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Polymer Science, or relevant engineering/technical field with 10+ years in medical devices OR Master’s with 8+ years.

3+ years in polymer product development, especially balloon blow molding.

Knowledge of disposable device design, materials, and testing.

Strong understanding of engineering materials, reliability, and manufacturability.

Proven track record in technology development and project leadership.

Effective communication skills across organizational levels.

Ability to operate independently and adapt to changing needs.

Experience managing cross-functional teams preferred.

Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and Design of Experiments is a plus.

Physical requirement: lifting objects up to 25lbs.

Additional Information The salary range is $141,000 - $227,700, with performance-based bonuses and comprehensive benefits. Details at
