Overview The City of Boston Law Department provides legal services to the Mayor, City Council, and City departments regarding their official capacities within the City government. Operating under the authority of the Corporation Counsel, who supervises all City attorneys and legal affairs, the department handles all litigation involving the City. Under the direction of the Corporation Counsel and supervision of the Legal Advisor, the City of Boston seeks an Assistant Corporation Counsel to join the Office of Legal Advisor in the Public Facilities Department and Commission team. The Public Facilities Department supports city departments in planning, design, construction, and renovations of City-owned buildings. The Public Facilities Commission oversees real property acquisitions, dispositions, and approval of contracts and expenditures. Responsibilities

Represent and support PFD and PFC in court proceedings, hearings, and related legal activities. Provide legal advice on design, construction, bidding, contracts, compliance, and disputes. Review PFC requests, agendas, minutes, and assist in meeting preparations. Engage in land agreements, leases, licenses, eminent domain, and related legal documents. Manage a caseload of assigned legal matters. Perform related duties as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications

Juris Doctorate required. Licensed to practice in Massachusetts with no disciplinary record. At least 3+ years of legal experience in a law firm or government setting. Experience in municipal, real estate, or construction law preferred. Knowledge of public bidding laws and construction law advantageous. Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and focus on details. Additional Requirements Boston residency is required.
