Economists in the Forecasting, Macroeconomics & Finance field document, interpret, and forecast Amazon business dynamics. This track is well suited for economists adept at combining time-series statistical methods with strong economic analysis and intuition. Candidates with research experience in macroeconometrics, empirical macroeconomics, international macroeconomics, time-series econometrics, forecasting, financial econometrics, or empirical finance are encouraged to apply.
Economists at Amazon work directly with senior management and scientists from other fields on key business problems across retail, cloud computing, third-party merchants, search, Kindle, streaming video, and operations. They develop formal models to understand past and present data, predict future trends, and identify risks and opportunities, analyzing drivers of growth and profitability to improve customer experience.
Basic Qualifications
PhD in economics or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience
Deep knowledge in time series econometrics, asset pricing, empirical macroeconomics, or micro and panel data analysis
Strong statistical methodology background and experience with big data
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Strong research track record
Effective communication skills for diverse audiences
Advanced expertise in econometric observational causal inference models
