The Sales Associate Trainee learns all aspects of Texas First Rentals Sales methods and practices, to become a contributing member of the sales team as an Outside Sales Representative. This role develops and grows sales with new and existing customers. Responsibilities include participating in a variety of focused developmental activities, assignments, and rotations over 12-18 months. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.Essential Functions:Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and MissionLearns the company's culture and organizational structure; Support and learn about branch operationsLearns all functions of an Outside Sales Representative by actively participating in hands on training to include joint sales calls, passing leads, and opening up new accountsLearns accurate use of systems for quotes, rental, sales, reservations, territory managementGains an understanding of implementing, sustaining, and developing quality improvement processes that focus on safety, financials, operations, and customer serviceBuilds and maintains internal relationships with key support teamsCollects customer information and understand needs for use on future sales and marketing campaignsLeverages Marketing & Sales tools to identify and sell to customersUtilizes CRM to uncover opportunity from dormant and inactive accounts as well as long lostCoordinates with branch departments to ensure customer satisfaction; and communicate field issues to branch personnelWorks with ISR's to provide solutions to customers around equipment needs assessment, training, demonstrations, quotations, catalogs, credit appsNegotiates prices on equipment rentals and sales in accordance with pricing policies and proceduresDrives customer engagement to local events/promotionsWorks safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Performs other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Demonstrated knowledge of construction equipment and rental industryKnowledge of applicable accounting principles, budget preparation, and business acumenDemonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales)Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with ability to build long term business relationshipsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organizationExcellent verbal, written, communication, and presentation skillsExceptional organizational, self-management, time management, and multitasking skillsProficient with MS Office Products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphsUnderstands the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision-making Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsThe ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writingThe ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferredThree to five years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is requiredTravel: Up to 5% travel may be expected Valid driver's license Physical Requirements: This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc. This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situationsThis role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machinesWork Environment:This job is generally performed in a retail and office environment; exposure to computer screens; exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditionsOccasionally works outdoors and may be exposed to weather extremes conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidityFrequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions Disclaimer:Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
