Primary Duties and Responsibilities Work under the direct clinical supervision of the sleep medicine physician to prepare sleep studies, support patients with positive airway pressure-related issues, and conduct polysomnogram scoring. Oversee home sleep study logistics, including setting up and scoring home sleep testing devices. Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs. Determine final testing parameters and procedures in collaboration with the ordering physician or clinical director, following laboratory protocols. Explain procedures and orient patients for sleep testing. Select, calibrate, and adjust equipment for testing to ensure proper functioning; apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards. Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identify, correct, and document artifacts, as well as routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. Provide patient education and instruction appropriate for sleep testing.
