We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status.Position Summary:Obtains high quality diagnostic recordings of brain waves and other physiological parameters to identify and evaluate abnormalities and to assist with quality assurance of the unit. Job RequirementEducation/Experience:Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience as an EEG technician or graduation from a certified EEG program.Licensing/Certification Requirements:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).Additional Position Requirements PREFERENCES WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WHO DOCUMENT THE FOLLOWING:Must have the availibility to work weekendsMust be open to work varied shifts (days, evenings, nights) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical RequirementsKnowledge of:Neurological anatomy and physiology; principles of electro physics; brain abnormalities and diseases; mechanics of the brain and other neurological functions and actions; never conduction velocities; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures; age specific patient care practices.Skill in:Operating neurological testing equipment; maneuvering patients and equipment; preparing tracing for physician's interpretation; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, including stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, and strength to examine varied patients; vision to use standard equipment and read printed materials including a VDT screen; and hearing and speech to communicate effectively inn person and over the telephone.
